Inspiration
I work at KUMON, an after school program for kids. My boss has been thinking of reopening our workplace since restrictions are being lifted here in Edmonton, Alberta. Despite this my boss has a dilemma of how we should protect the kids so even if they go to the center we lessen their interactions with ourselves and other students.
That's how I came up with the idea for this app. The app (or the will-be-final version) enables teachers to create classrooms and populate it with student contact data. Teachers can then notify the parent if a student is ready for pick up. This will lessen the time the students have to wait for their parents in the waiting room.
This app is all the more important since the government states that we should restrict the number of people in the office to 15 persons. The app shows an overview of the students so teachers and teaching assistants can keep track of the rotation of students in the centre.
I'm planning to add more features to this app, including notifications if the student is ready to be picked up. And a self-assessment tool so teachers can check the students for COVID-19 as they come into class.
