Class Reunion

Class Reunion is a Web-based system to help the colleges to stay in touch with alumni, complete a functional system for monitoring alumni, and help alumni to get notified about college activities.

Inspiration

Alumni are a formidable asset for any institute. They can be potential recruiters for your new graduates, source of revenue through donations, they can mentor the current students of the college. The manual procedure for gathering information is very hectic. The participation of alumni is very low in college events. We as a student faced a lot of difficulties to communicate with the Alumni to get information on different subjects as well as their interview experience. So we made this platform like social media so that the Alumni can get a good experience and will connect with the college as well as various students, teachers, and fellow Alumni.

What it does

This platform is helpful for the college to keep track of their alumni and send college event notifications to alumni. Alumni can also post their achievements as well as create job posts if there is an opening in his company. The Alumni can connect with fellow Alumni. Alumni can make donations to various college events. Alumni also can do one-to-one/group chat with Alumni or his college students. All the Alumni details are also fetched from LinkedIn using LinkedInAPI same for Facebook. On the college side, the college can send SMS as well as the Email notification to Alumni. College can also share the job post made by Alumni with students. College can also view particular Alumni documents when they need an audit. College Admin can view all the Alumni statistics using charts. Also, the student can communicate with the Alumni and can view the job posts done by Alumni also students can request job referrals.

How we built it

Front End: HTML5, CSS, Bootstrap, Javascript

Back End: Python Flask

Database: MongoDb (No-SQL), Firebase (Real-Time Chat)

Challenges we ran into

The major challenge we ran into was of handling two databases. Making interaction between two databases was a major challenge. Implementing Real-Time Chat was also a difficult task but our team contribution made it easy and we built it. Integration of various user modules was also one of the major challenge.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Accomplishments that we are proud of is that in a short period of time we built the whole system and also shown it to our college principal and he found it very interesting and soon he said that we can host on our internal servers. We are also proud of creating a network of Alumni, College, and Students. We are also proud that the current college student can now directly communicate with the Alumni.

What we learned

While building this system, we learned team collaboration as well as learned how we can use two databases in one project and how we can handle their interactions. We also learned about Python Flask and how we can use it to build web applications.

What's next for Class Reunion

In the future, we will try to make this platform available for multiple colleges so that there will be huge connections of alumni as well as students and teachers. We will also use the RazerPay Payment gateway for making payments.
