Inspiration
Professors depend heavily on the online resources and tools provided to them nowadays. Since most of their work is done remotely, struggling students can be easily left unnoticed. We think it would be a good idea to bring a new feature to their Canvas page that would not only bolster their course design but further assist students who might need help.
What it does
To help professors with their teaching, we decided to add an additional Report page to their Canvas that focuses on helping the class and students. Our goal is to keep professors connected with the students throughout the quarter by providing them easy access to information about how their classes are doing as a whole and individually.
How we built it
We use CSS, HTML, and JavaScript to build the web.
Challenges we ran into
We encountered technical difficulties since some of us were not familiar with front-end languages. Thus, we spent plenty of time understanding the syntax and watching tutorials as needed. Specifically, the challenges included formatting all the characters with CSS and functionalizing the characters and drawing graphs by using JavaScript.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are satisfied with the actual web we built through new languages. Despite the time limit, we embraced the challenges and overcame the issues as a team.
What we learned
We learned how to embed CSS and JavaScript into HTML and the ways to format each character by using CSS.
What's next for Untitled
In the future, we might consider taking actual data files as input and process them through algorithms to customize the report page tailored to each instructor..
