Inspiration
We wanted to build something that goes against the typical betting-app experience. Most football betting platforms require users to spend real money to put their football knowledge to the test. We wanted to create a different kind of experience.
What it does
Clash Eleven is a free football prediction game where fans can predict real match scores, earn points based on their accuracy, and compete with friends and other football fans without risking real money.
How we built it
We built Clash Eleven using Flutter as our multi-platform mobile framework and Supabase as our backend. We connected the app to real football APIs to manage match data, predictions, and results.
To speed up development, we used Google Antigravity to assist with code generation and Google Stitch to help design the UI.
Challenges we ran into
One of our biggest challenges was making all the different parts of the app work together reliably. We had to learn how to structure our database, synchronize data with external football APIs, and handle runtime and in-app errors without compromising the user experience.
We also had to learn how to integrate RevenueCat and work with in-app purchases, which introduced another part of the application architecture that we had to understand and implement.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud that we were able to turn our idea into a real, working app that actually met the needs we had in mind.
Seeing Clash Eleven go from an idea to something we could actually use — and seeing the final product look and feel like what we originally imagined — was one of the most rewarding parts of the project. It was exciting to see something we had envisioned come to life as a real application.
What we learned
Building Clash Eleven taught us a lot about mobile app development and the different systems required to make a real-time, data-driven app work reliably.
We learned how to:
- Design and structure a database to support our app's features.
- Synchronize our data with real football APIs.
- Handle runtime errors and in-app errors while maintaining a good user experience.
- Build a reliable flow for retrieving and displaying live football data.
- Integrate RevenueCat and work with in-app purchases.
One of the biggest lessons was understanding that building an app is not only about creating the features themselves, but also about making sure all the different systems work together reliably and provide a smooth experience for the user.
What's next for Clash Eleven
Our next goal is to launch Clash Eleven as soon as possible and continue improving the overall user experience.
We're also planning to expand the prediction system with more detailed match predictions. Users will eventually be able to predict things such as the number of cards, shots on target, and goal scorers, giving them more ways to test their football knowledge.
Beyond predictions, we want to introduce more social features and interactions to make Clash Eleven more engaging and create a stronger sense of competition between friends and football fans.
