Inspiration

With an aging workforce, a growing skills gap, and rising demands for quality and productivity, it’s never been more urgent to empower the people who get the work done every day. That's why augmented reality, with smart glasses as the primary form factor, is leading the way and has gone from being the "wave of the future" to the wave of now.

From production to delivery to maintenance, ClarK Vision is bringing more power to the people—and helping global industrial companies gain a powerful competitive edge by giving extra powers to their employees.

What it does

ClarK Vision offers a solution based on augmented reality (AR) that improves workers’ efficiency and safety across industries. The AR smart glasses have features such as a camera capable of continuous QR scanning, a thermovision camera, wireless connectivity, environmental sensors and integrated head-up display. From factories and warehouses to fieldwork, ClarK Vision offers a scalable solution, being part of a modular ecosystem.

Put in use, AR glasses for industrial purposes helps the employee in his/her day to day-to-day job, enhancing their senses. Apart from being protective glasses, their main purpose is to provide explicit guidance overlaid on the work being done. Due to the fact that graphic information will be projected on the lens being coordinated with the performed task, human error will be reduced and productivity will grow.

ClarK Vision can accommodate various use cases by adapting the hardware and software according to our business partners. Its hardware and software are modular thus allowing for customization of the product according to the client’s needs. The head-up display offers real time information easing the work of the employee and allowing for a boost in productivity.

How I built it

Both the ClarK Vision product idea and the team were born in March 2018, before that year's edition of Innovation Labs, the largest Romanian startup pre-accelerator. After winning the Innovation Lab’s Startup of the Year Award and BearingPoint’s “Be an Innovator” Competition in Berlin, we decided to incorporate our startup and we created SC NUCLEUS TECHNOLOGIES SRL on 19th of June 2018. The company started as a team of 6 but restructured by the end of 2018 to its core founders: Vlad Măcelaru, Ionuț Moldovanu, Costin Costea, Alexandru Șolot - each with a 25% share of the company.

What I learned

The beginning of 2020 and the current pandemic crisis created an opportunity for us to pivot towards a more distilled version of the product. We are currently working towards a remote assistance solution composed of the ClarK Vision glasses and a proprietary cloud platform, leaving additional sensor development on hold.

What's next for Clark Vision

ClarK Vision is a wearable augmented reality device that is especially powerful, as it delivers the right information at the right moment and in the ideal format, directly in workers’ line of sight, while leaving workers’ hands free so they can work without interruption. This dramatically reduces the time needed to complete a job because workers needn’t stop what they’re doing to flip through a paper manual or engage with a device or workstation.
