Inspiration
When we want to look for news about a certain topic, we are usually bombarded with a plethora of articles from a variety of different sources. It can sometimes be hard and troublesome to tell which sources are credible and which aren't. This is why we decided to create this website as a way for users to conveniently discern whether the news they are ready is reliable!
What it does
Our website takes a user input (a news website url), and returns information about the site; its origins, credibility and possible biases to give you clairvoyance!
How we built it
We used Flask and MongoDB to build the backend and HTML to build the front end
Challenges we ran into
We had difficulty getting the HTML pages to run and setting up the database with MongoDB
Accomplishments that we're proud of
All of our team members are very new to programming in general (we're first years) and we had to learn how to build a website from scratch
What we learned
We learnt a lot about programming in general during these few days as we had to learn to build a website overnight. We were able to learn about how to use HTML, pushing from the backend to the frontend, and following routes through flask. This was a very informative and insightful experience.
What's next for Clairvoyance
We plan to make a web extension to make the service even more convenient to use than it is now!
