Inspiration

The idea for cKES was inspired by CashApp, a mobile wallet that simplifies the process of sending and receiving money. Similarly, cKES aims to provide a seamless platform for transferring stablecoins, offering an efficient solution for both peer-to-peer payments and merchant transactions.

What it Does

cKES enables users to send stablecoins to one another and pay merchants for services using digital currencies. The goal is to create a simple, user-friendly experience for crypto transactions while ensuring stability through the use of stablecoins.

How We Built It

We began by designing the interface using Figma to ensure a visually appealing and intuitive user experience. From there, we moved on to coding, focusing on making sure the development closely mirrored the design specifications from the Figma mockups.

Challenges We Faced

One of the major challenges was ensuring that the coded version reflected the same level of intuitiveness as the Figma design. Additionally, managing state within the app proved tricky—especially ensuring the app responded smoothly to various state changes, such as when users input the amount they want to send. Lastly, the backend integration, particularly configuring smart contracts, is still a work in progress, as we work towards better aligning it with the front-end functionality.

Accomplishments We're Proud Of

We’re proud of having taken the initial steps to bring this vision of a fintech platform to life. From conceptualizing the product to creating designs and developing a minimal viable product (MVP), we’re excited about the potential of cKES. Think of it as a social app for payments, combining functionality with sleek design.

What We Learned

We’ve learned the importance of perseverance, especially when confronted with technical issues and errors. Sticking with the process and troubleshooting has reinforced the idea that no problem is insurmountable if you put your mind to it.

What's Next for cKES Payment Gateway

Moving forward, we aim to push the MVP towards a product launch and gather feedback from early users. We also plan to integrate with existing fiat and cryptocurrency payment systems, as we believe there’s no need to reinvent the wheel when there are already effective solutions available. Ultimately, we envision cKES as a multi-chain platform that accommodates various stablecoins, extending beyond the Celo Kenya Shilling to other currencies.
