Civisight

Civisight was inspired by the realization that many citizens miss out on government schemes and benefits simply because they don’t know where to look or how to navigate complex official websites. We wanted to make access to public welfare as easy as asking a question, so we built an AI powered civic assistant that helps people instantly discover relevant schemes, policies, and benefits in plain language. Using React and Tailwind for the frontend, Node.js and Express for the backend, MongoDB Atlas for data storage, Hugging Face NLP for understanding natural queries, and Gemini API for generating concise summaries, we created a seamless experience entirely on free-tier software. Along the way, we faced challenges like processing unstructured policy data, optimizing API performance, and training the AI to interpret diverse queries effectively. Through this, we learned the importance of combining technology with empathy making information not just available, but truly accessible. Civisight aims to bridge the gap between citizens and governance, empowering everyone to understand and claim the opportunities they deserve
