Inspiration

Inspired by a heartbroken video of a police traffic stop. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MkeS_0NQUZs A vet almost lost all of his life-saving in cash during a traffic stop. The reason is he was lack of legal education and not understanding his rights.

What it does

It provides a simple and effective procedure to assist a civilian during a traffic stop.

How we built it

We built it using the MERN stack. Using Git & GitHub as the versioning control system. We cooperate with 3 engineers(one front-end and two full-stack) to develop this application.

Challenges we ran into

  1. We wanted to deploy an AI lawyer chatbox system. But, it is too complicated to implement, so we put together an SOP system that can be easily implemented and provide some useful features.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Successfully connecting the Front End, Back End, and DB.

What we learned

As a group of 3 engineers and a UX research scientist, we've learned how to utilize each of our skills to help on a project. Not everybody needs to know how to code to make contribution in the Hackathon.

What's next for Civilian

In the next 6 months to a year, Civilian will starts it mobile app version for our user to efficiently utilize the all features of the application.
