Inspiration
We live in a world where people see civic problems every single day — potholes, drainage leaks, unlit streets, sanitation failures — yet there is no easy public way to report them. What inspired me was the idea that if citizens had a transparent, unified platform to report issues, communities could collectively push for faster resolution and real accountability.
Also, the motivation was rooted in a simple belief:
When problems are visible, they get solved
What it does
CivicFix is a mobile-first, multilingual web platform that lets citizens report any civic issue in one line — e.g.,
“Pothole near main road in Miyapur since 2 weeks”
The system automatically generates a complaint page with:
Issue summary
Location tagging
Photos
Severity rating
Category of issue
Public support system (upvotes)
Resolution tracking
Auto-generated complaint letter
Smart-routing to government bodies
How we built it
Tech used:
Base44 — UI & web generation
HTML / CSS / JavaScript — core frontend
Firebase / Supabase — complaint storage
Map API — geo-tagging and visualization
The conceptual development process:
Citizen Input →Issue Page →Public Support →Gov Routing →Resolution
Challenges we ran into
Ensuring clean UI on small mobile screens
Creating intuitive categorization of issues
Designing for people who may not type long explanations
Handling multiple languages
Providing value even before real gov-integration
One major UX insight: Short complaint input works better than forced long forms.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Built a functional mobile-first citizen reporting platform within hackathon time
Successfully implemented multilingual support (English, Hindi, Telugu)
Created a clean, accessible UI that even non-technical citizens can easily use
Designed an innovative civic complaint model with public voting & transparency
Achieved automatic authority-routing depending on issue type
Generated formal government complaint letters automatically
Implemented real-time issue tracking from report → resolution
Developed a system that can scale to any Indian city or region
Demonstrated a real-world use case with strong social impact
Built a working prototype that feels like a real government-level digital service
What we learned
Building mobile-first UI for accessibility
Designing UX for non-technical users
Mapping civic issues to authorities
Implementing multilingual UI
Thinking like a citizen AND a municipality
What's next for CiviFix
