Inspiration

The inspiration behind IdeasMatter came from a simple but powerful question:

“What if everyone had an easy way to share their ideas and get heard?”

Whether it's improving local policy, proposing a new rule in a school, or asking a simple question like “Should we ban honking in cities?”, people often have valuable input — but lack a platform that combines accessibility, structure, and trust.

I wanted to create a space where anyone can voice their ideas, get feedback, and see them grow into something meaningful — powered by AI, voice tech, and blockchain.

What it does

IdeasMatter is a community-powered platform where anyone can share, explore, and vote on ideas — from civic proposals to fun, everyday questions.

It enables users to:

✍️ Submit ideas using natural language — AI helps draft and improve them with Gemini

🌍 Translate ideas into multiple languages with real-time AI translation

🔊 Listen to ideas using lifelike voiceovers powered by ElevenLabs

👤 Sign up & log in to manage personal dashboards and track idea activity

🗳️ Vote on ideas with transparent, blockchain-based voting via Algorand

🏷️ Browse a Reddit-style home feed of trending, new, or local ideas

🚩 Report harmful or misleading ideas — AI reviews and flags them automatically

📹 Watch an AI-generated intro video to understand the platform quickly (created using Tavus)

🌐 Change website language dynamically, with key content pre-translated for speed

Whether you're proposing a new public policy or simply asking "Should we have no-homework Fridays?", IdeasMatter gives your voice a place — and a process — to be heard and acted on.

How we built it

The project was built completely using Bolt.new, leveraging:

Gemini API for AI-powered content drafting and translation

ElevenLabs for audio playback of idea content

Tavus to generate a homepage explainer video

Netlify for fast and reliable deployment

Nodely API + Algorand to ensure ideas are voted on transparently

A custom moderation system using AI to auto-handle flagged ideas

A multi-language system using pre-cached static translations + dynamic AI content translation

I also styled the site to resemble Reddit, giving it a familiar and community-driven feel.
