Inspiration

Citizens are the eyes and ears of their cities, yet their civic concerns are often lost in silos. Traditional city complaint systems are outdated, fragmented, and lack actionable intelligence. We wanted to create a platform that transforms everyday residents into smart city sensors and empowers municipalities with real-time, AI-prioritized civic intelligence.

What it does

CivicSenseByYou.com is an AI-powered civic intelligence platform that enables citizens to report civic issues (potholes, streetlight outages, graffiti, flooding, etc.) through an intuitive mobile-first interface. The platform uses advanced machine learning to:

  • Automatically categorize and tag issues
  • Prioritize civic issues by urgency and impact using You.com AI APIs
  • Enrich reports with real-time weather, traffic, and news data
  • Route insights directly to city stakeholders for rapid response

How we built it

Backend: Google Cloud Run (Node.js/Express) with PostgreSQL database Frontend: React.js with responsive design AI/ML: You.com API for intelligent issue prioritization, Google Gemini for content analysis Data Integration: NewsData.io for civic news, Tomorrow.io for weather context, Radio Browser for community alerts Deployment: Cloud Run for auto-scaling serverless architecture
