Inspiration
Many communities face everyday civic problems such as garbage accumulation, potholes, water leakage, drainage issues, and broken streetlights. Reporting these problems and getting them resolved can be difficult for citizens. We were inspired to build a platform that makes civic issue reporting easier, faster, and more accessible to everyone.
What it does
CivicSense AI is an AI-powered civic complaint management platform that allows citizens to report public issues and track their status. Key features: Report civic issues such as garbage, potholes, water leakage, and drainage problems. Support for Telugu and English to make reporting accessible. AI-powered assistance for understanding and categorizing complaints. Location-based issue reporting using maps. Dashboard to view and track submitted complaints.
How we built it
We built CivicSense AI using React.js for the frontend and FastAPI for the backend. We integrated Google Gemini AI for AI-powered assistance and used database and map functionalities to support complaint management and location-based reporting.
Challenges we ran into
Some challenges included integrating the AI model with the backend, handling API communication, managing complaint data, and creating a user-friendly interface. We also worked on making the platform accessible to users who prefer Telugu.

What's next for CivicSense AI
We aim to improve the platform with real-time complaint updates, image-based issue detection, authority-side dashboards, notifications, and better AI-powered complaint prioritization.
