CivicPulse – AI-Powered Smart City Issue Reporting Platform
Inspiration
Cities face everyday problems such as potholes, broken streetlights, garbage overflow, water leaks, and traffic issues. Many citizens do not know where to report these problems, and authorities often receive incomplete or duplicate complaints. We wanted to build a platform that makes reporting simple, transparent, and efficient while helping municipalities respond faster using AI.
What it does
CivicPulse is an AI-powered smart city platform that allows citizens to report civic issues with photos, location, and descriptions. The system automatically categorizes complaints, assigns priority using AI, displays issues on an interactive map, and provides real-time status tracking. It also offers a dedicated dashboard for municipal administrators to monitor, manage, and resolve issues efficiently.
How we built it
We designed the platform using modern web technologies with a responsive user interface. AI is used to classify complaints, prioritize issues, and improve decision-making. We integrated geolocation for accurate issue mapping and created separate dashboards for citizens and administrators. The project focuses on making civic engagement simple, transparent, and scalable.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenges were integrating AI-based issue prioritization, designing a user-friendly interface, managing location-based reporting, and ensuring the platform remained fast and responsive. We also worked on creating a clean workflow between citizens and municipal authorities.

What we learned

What's next for CivicPulse
We plan to add multilingual support, IoT sensor integration, predictive analytics for city maintenance, automated notifications, offline reporting, and a mobile application. Our goal is to make CivicPulse a complete smart city solution that improves public services and citizen engagement.
