Inspiration

We were inspired by the frustration of seeing the same pothole on our commute for months, with no clear way to report it or track its repair status. We realized that many community issues go unaddressed not because authorities don't care, but because there's a disconnect between residents and local services. Authorities realise the issue only after someone record the video of it and it goes viral. We wanted to bridge that gap with technology that empowers citizens to be active participants in improving their neighborhoods.

What it does

CivicConnect is a real-time community issue reporting platform that lets residents report local problems (potholes, broken streetlights, illegal dumping, etc.) using their smartphones. Users can upload photos and videos, pin issues on an interactive map, and track resolution status in real-time. The community can upvote urgent issues, engage in comment threads, and see instant updates as problems get addressed.

What's next for CivicConnect

Next, we plan to integrate official government APIs to automatically route reports to the appropriate municipal departments. We want to add push notifications so users get alerts when issues they care about are updated. Long-term, we hope to expand CivicConnect into a platform where communities can organize cleanup events, vote on local initiatives, and truly shape their neighborhoods together.
