Inspiration

Creating a free multifunctional communication service of information exchange will allow building a new culture of relations, which will contribute to the sustainable development of all public institutions, growth of civic literacy, which will lead to a higher level of understanding, respect and, as a result, more effective interaction between the government and society.

What it does

Digital participation platform Civic Space (Spilno) is opened for public online solution that combines wide communication opportunities of social networks with potential of e-democracy tools and built on principles of openness and transparency. For civil society activists who need to combine their efforts to achieve a common goal we built digital participation platform that helps to unite, collect new interesting ideas, create organization or team page, create blogs, competitions, projects, discussions or debates. Unlike other similar products my product is a complete organic communication ecosystem like social media network with digital democracy instruments.

How I built it

Our coders developed the platform by ourselves. They didn`t use ready frameworks. The languages that thy used is Python and HTML.

Challenges I ran into

Make a communication of society able in isolation. Let people remotely unite to help each other.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Creation of 2 working versions of platform - SPILNO (for Ukrainian market) and Civic Space (for global market); Start of online health consultations with real doctors during quarantine; Common work with volunteers to deliver food to the sets to eldery people.

What I learned

That we need engage people by ourselves, and start gamification on our platform to keep users active.

What's next for Civic Space

  1. The main aim - is to create mobile app with our platform.
  2. We are trying to implement the test exploitation of the platform abroad (Poland, Georgia).
  3. We are looking for new models of monetization / financing that would help us to remain independent.
