CityFind – An AI-Powered Lost & Found Platform for Cities

🧠 Inspiration

Every day, hundreds of people in our city misplace essential items — wallets, phones, ID cards, bags — and find themselves helpless trying to recover them. The traditional ways of finding lost items (like posting on social media or sticking paper notices) are outdated, inefficient, and rarely effective.

I realized that we could bridge this gap by leveraging the power of Artificial Intelligence and a community-based platform — making lost item recovery smarter, faster, and more reliable.

📚 What I Learned

  • How AI can be used to semantically match human-written item descriptions and image data
  • How no-code AI platforms can quickly bring ideas to life without writing a single line of backend code
  • The importance of user experience when it comes to trust-based civic platforms
  • How to structure logical flows like lost vs. found submission, AI matching, and alerts

🏗️ How I Built the Project

  • No-Code Platform Used:[GPT,LOVABLE.IO]
  • Designed a simple, mobile-friendly interface for submitting lost or found items
  • Integrated AI (GPT-based or platform-specific logic) to match descriptions and return the best possible matches
  • Created a personal dashboard for users to view and manage their submissions
  • Used conditional workflows to trigger alerts when potential matches were found
  • Added optional image upload for better accuracy and visual matching

🚧 Challenges Faced

  • Matching free-text descriptions reliably without custom backend — solved using AI prompt engineering
  • Handling vague or incomplete submissions — added user instructions and examples
  • Keeping the UI minimal yet informative
  • Ensuring fair use and preventing spam entries — added admin approval system

🌟 What's Next?

  • Enable local language support for accessibility
  • Build a verified user trust system using ID or social proof
  • Partner with local police stations and metro stations to integrate with their lost & found desks

CityFind is more than a tool — it's a community movement powered by technology to help each other in everyday life.
