Inspiration
Seattle Freeze and the loneliness epidemic. We wanted to help people who felt like they lacked real emotional connections in the city.
What it does
It automatically detects events and human traffic to help bring people together using cameras and AI detection.
How we built it
We built it with a mixture of Figma Make, Cursor, and perseverance. We had a workflow of trialing out features while our frontend was being built and then once we had the frontend we got right to work marrying the two together.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into a lot of issues with the media server and getting live data from that camera feed. On Windows you can't connect two processes to the same camera stream. We had to adapt to more a pipeline with the HLS stream feeding into our human detection.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of all the beautiful frontend we were able to make as well at the awesome MCP to ensure that we're not just collecting data but also using it intelligently.
What we learned
We learned about teamwork, and how to function as a unit with each of us acting as a sort of limb. The human detection pipeline was extremely fun and taught us a lot about streaming video at production.
What's next for CityBoy
Getting in contact with city officials and getting the implementation started. We feel as though as our idea provides real value and has a place in cities big or small.
