Inspiration
As students in London, we appreciate the good discounts so therefore we wanted to create something that would let you explore for less.
What it does
This is a web application that allows a user to search for places, that they have filtered for, within a specified radius from you. It lets you have an adventure and explore for less!!
How we built it
We used Python for the backend and HTML, CSS and JavaScript for the frontend. We also used a Google API to show the map with the places found in the search results.
Challenges we ran into
The first challenge that we faced was the fact that neither of us had any idea for the project so while other teams had started planning their project and how they were going to split the workload, our team was still brainstorming ideas which meant we started later than everyone else and therefore had less time. Also near the end of the hacking, some of our files were missing from GitHub, however, we were soon able to find those files back which meant we were able to get back to work.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
As a team, we are incredibly proud of the application that we have created as we had built it from the ground up and we then produced an application that we can then use in our daily lives.
What we learned
Patience is a virtue... For all four of us, this hackathon taught us a lot and was a learning curve. This meant that there was a lot of learning and going through things several times in a short period of time.
What's next for CityAdventure
Launch the application and enjoy exploring!
