Inspiration

There is a global need to integrate cities and their communities around good citizenship practices. If a social platform would integrate with the city sensors and show the commitment of the citizens to their communities it would increase the well being of the city as a whole.

What it does

It creates a platform of smart objects and points of interest around the city and rewards citizens for having good behaviour

How we built it

The system is based on adding smart behaviour to objects around the city. By associating with actions on those objects and rewarding the citizens for interacting with them, they will receive "city points" that is like a virtual currency that could be used in a overlay of gamification on the city that would allow for exchange the points for public transport tickets, smart park tickets, museum tickets, etc

Challenges we ran into

The integration of heterogeneous systems and make them work together in an efficient way was a challenge

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We could create a full system that allows for the showcase of several use cases of, not only, good environmental practices and good behaviours. Sharing those "city points" and showing that you are a good citizen would encourage others to be good citizens as well. These system also allows for the integration of partners that could compete among themselves to add more value to the virtual currency, valued around the city.

What we learned

We learned that the ecosystem has a rich environment to integrate different technologies to build products that really make a difference, like the TMF APIs

Integration of new partners to make the city a more dynamic environment, help your partners promote their business, develop new technologies to bring citizens and partners together.
