Inspiration

  • Radbus got inspired by the Bicibus project from Barcelona after reading an article about it from Süddeutsche Zeitung
  • Florian, a member of Radbus's team is a passionate cyclist himself, for which he and his children use bicycles in their everyday life.
  • Radbus hopes to strengthen young cyclists' sense of direction while providing them a safe and trustworthy platform to find companies for their journey to/back from school.
  • In the long-term, Radbus wish to encourage more people (especially young people) to use bicycles as it would help reduce car traffic in front of schools as well as pollutants in the city.

"Cycling makes me feel happy and gives us fresh air" - Flo's daughter inspirational quote

"There's no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing" - Public idiom

What it does

  • It's organized cycling groups on tracks together.
  • It's organizing a bus created from many cycling kids and a few adult organizers
  • At decreased the time effort for many children for the school way
  • It's motivated adults and children to cycle, they get credits and get a reward (Service from local bike store i.e.)

How we built it

Challenges we ran into

  • Find a topic
  • Couldn't get the geodata needed from the Geoport Muenchen platform (e. g. location of schools)
  • Import bus stops to geoportal Munich for visualization -> easy just click CSV import
  • Sell the concept
  • Focus on what is possible, there are thousands of improvements but it makes no sense to consider everything.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Create the Prototype and finish the Phase of Concept.

What we learned

  • Working together remotely with different tools.
  • Developing an app for the community, which has a positive impact was challenging.
  • Combine different opinions and ideas into one project.

What's next for Radbus

  • To turn our proof of concept into an actual working app for Landeshauptstadt Muenchen
