GOALS:
- Offer citizens an opportunity through volunteerism to help improve access to public education
- Increase student attendance by facilitating shorter transit times than presently available by public transportation
HOW IT WORKS:
A citizen driver with an interest in volunteering registers online to drive students to or from school. They post their availability and existing routes.
A parent and student who needs to get to school registers online with their home and school address.
Each user completes a profile with an image, short bio, and contact information.
Drivers, parents, and student are able to search the website to find compatibility for a ride share.
Students and/or drivers contact each other to form a relationship and set up a ride share.
Participants can be verified through reviews and rankings.
FURTHER CONSIDERATIONS:
- The registration would include a mandatory background, insurance, and driving record check.
- As an incentive, drivers can submit their milage as a tax-deductible donation.
- Incentives for city employees to participate as volunteer.
