The idea for CISPR (Cat Identity and Standard Pedigree Registration) 🐈 was born from a deep love for feline heritage ❤️ and the incredible potential of Web3 to transform niche communities. We saw a golden opportunity to bridge the gap between traditional, paper-based cat pedigree systems and the exciting new digital world 🕸️. Our goal was to empower cat owners to preserve and proudly showcase their cats' lineage using NFTs. By making the leap from Web2 to Web3, we aimed to create a decentralized, transparent, and super engaging platform for cat enthusiasts to register, verify, and celebrate their cats' unique pedigrees. 🚀

🐾 What it does

CISPR is a Web3 platform designed to create and manage NFTs representing cat pedigrees. 🖼️ Users can easily register their cats via our website or a future app 📱, upload their details and adorable photos, and receive a unique NFT that certifies their cat’s lineage. The platform includes cool features for minting NFTs, sending them directly to users’ wallets 💳, and displaying beautifully verified pedigree certificates. Additionally, CISPR aims to integrate advanced image authentication technology 🔍 to ensure the legitimacy of each cat’s identity, building a circle of trust within the community. ✅ Revenue is generated through registration fees or NFT sales, targeting the passionate market of cat owners and breeders. 💰

🛠️ How we built it

We kicked things off by developing a compelling pitch deck 📄 to outline our vision and get people excited. A sleek landing page and a user login system were created to establish our initial online presence. 🌐 The frontend was built using modern Web3 tools, while the backend was partially inspired by Uniswap’s open-source code to handle the heavy lifting of NFT minting and blockchain integration. 👨‍💻 We explored various Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-based chains for deploying our smart contracts. However, development hit a pause button ⏸️ due to some tricky backend challenges and the tough decision to delete the VPS hosting the project. The image authentication system remains a conceptual dream for now, as we lacked the resources to bring it to life. 💔

🚧 Challenges we ran into

Building CISPR was definitely not a walk in the park! Adapting Uniswap’s complex code for our specific needs turned out to be a huge puzzle 🧩, which led to an incomplete backend. The image authentication technology, a critical piece for verifying cat identities, was a significant technical mountain we couldn't climb without more expertise. 🤯 The project's ambitious scope demanded a huge amount of time ⏳ and resources 💸, especially for the blockchain integration and app development. On top of that, the niche market and the highly competitive NFT landscape posed challenges in creating a clear monetization strategy and building a community fast enough to keep the momentum going. 👥
