Inspiration
When faced with the challenge of developing an application to help alleviate the problems caused by COVID-19, we immediately thought of a simulation. A visual demo of how staying home and limiting social contact will prevent the spread of the virus is something that will resonate with most people more than plain data.
What it does
Our Unity simulation demonstrates the impacts you can have on the spread of COVID-19 by making educated decisions about interacting with others.
How we built it
We employed Unity's free and open source asset library, as well as Zoom and Discord for communication to create an efficient and functional simulation program.
Challenges we ran into
Developing an application completely remotely, with contact and discussion only taking place online, was a new challenge for us.
What we learned
We learned how difficult it was to build an application under a short deadline and how great remote editing is.
What's next for Circumstantial Simulations for COVID-19
We are going to continue to improve and expand, and as we post our simulation to various platforms, we hope that people we take notice and adjust their lifestyles to help save lives.
