Resource scarcity doesn’t just drain energy—it drains mental bandwidth. BioNeuroFuel was inspired by the need to create a circular system that restores energy access and human cognitive capacity simultaneously, turning waste into opportunity while empowering communities. 🌱🧠
What it does ⚡
- ♻️ Converts organic waste into biohydrogen, syngas, and commercial chemicals using a zero-waste biorefinery.
- 🏘️ Implements a Cognitive Resilience Program (CRP) to reduce stress and improve decision-making through jobs, affordable energy, and community funds.
- 🤖 Uses AI/ML to optimize energy production and measure cognitive impact.
- 🔄 Creates a sustainable feedback loop linking environmental, economic, and socio-cognitive benefits.
How we built it 🛠️
- Designed a modular zero-waste chemical process for biohydrogen and chemical production.
- Developed ML models:
- RNN for process optimization (maximizing energy yield, minimizing waste)
- Cognitive Impact Model for measuring stress reduction and mental bandwidth

- Created a conceptual digital twin to simulate real-world deployment.
- Integrated community input to ensure cultural relevance and feasibility.
Challenges we ran into ⚠️
- Modeling the link between energy/economic factors and cognitive outcomes required cross-disciplinary research.
- Balancing technical complexity with a clear, visual presentation for judges.
- Translating advanced chemical engineering into a 24-hour ideathon-friendly format.
