Inspiration

Seeing how infections are limited within territories and villages.

What it does

It manages dynamic virtual villages within a wider population

How I built it

Its currently just a video concept and app in the making.

API built with expressgraphql on on node with Postgres /Sequelize. Algorithm for allowing circles to join. React FE for visualisation.

Challenges I ran into

Make the concept understood. Hence we started with the video first.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

That we made a production quality video.

What I learned

simple visualisation and context.

What's next for Circles

Finishing the prototype. Getting traction with influencers and government.

Additional blurb.

First, imagine a secluded village succumbing to a highly infectious plague. The sick would mount rapidly, but would eventually be limited by the population of the village. The plague would run out of people to infect.

By the same token – at the time of this pandemic – if the country’s population could become like many closed villages, the Covid-19 virus can be contained.

The idea of Circles allows for the dynamic creation of many virtual villages, controlled by an app, with simple rules.

Circles can be social, but also professional. After an initial lockdown, the social groups and workplaces can start interacting and coming together in ever growing numbers – the same way that villages grew together into cities.

The app bridges the gap between a fully-interacting global society and a single person isolating. Crucially, it answers the question:

How do we get out of this?
