Inspiration

The team at Circle was inspired by trying to find allow people to find a support community online. We initially thought about making it chat based, but that would be too direct. Our next idea was to find a way that allowed users to be able to communicate and stay anonymous. Then we came up will Circle.

What it does

Posting a question or making a search populates your "feed" with similar posts The last 5 searches and questions are saved to help populate your feed All posts are anonymous your feed can be arranged with chronologically or by numbers of comments Allowing users to express themselves online and feel like they aren't alone with their problems creates a "sense of community"

How we built it

We built it using machine learning/cognitive services api LUIS from Microsoft. This allowed us to categorize different problems, emotions and feelings.

Challenges we ran into

Hosting PHP, solved using UW servers. Finding and training the LUIS api. We were short on time

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Ideating and prototyping something that is unique and simple. A clean elegant UI that requires little of the user.

What we learned

How to use the LUIS api How to host servers from my own computer How to properly time manage an agile project How to work efficiently and communicate as a diverse team

What's next for Circle

Using LUIS to create a huge database of machine learning, being able to identify a larger range of problems. Allowing users to be notified of when someone comments on their post (whoops!)
