Circle of Fashion

Inspiration

Our inspiration for this app came from hearing different news about fast fashion and how there is so much waste when it comes to the fashion industry. When we heard that our hackathon submission needed to be about the Circular Economy and we researched what is was all about, we decided that we can use this approach to tackle the issue of fast fashion, and create a sustainable future.

What it does

It is a platform where people can send clothes they no longer need, they will earn points for this which they can use to purchase clothes. These will then be sorted into Fab-Packs (packets of different fabrics). Once sorted, we will send these to fashion creators that subscribe to our app. They can then create new clothes with these packs. The fashion creators can sell their new clothes on our app, or they can sell it on their own. Then once people no longer want the clothes, they can send it to us again and earn points.

How we built it

For this Hackathon, we created a prototype using Figma.

Challenges we ran into

We didn't run into many problems, mainly just problems with finding team members other than us 2 in the first place, however we did not see this as a limitation as we were able to work hard to create a great prototype and idea. Maybe another challenge is time limitations as we wanted to talk a lot more about our app in our demonstration video, however we only had 5 minutes to record all of this.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of producing 14 different screens in our prototype, that shows effectively how the app would work. It gave us confidence that we could actually build this in the near future with other skills we have too. We are also proud of the design, we think it looks really nice and professional.

What we learned

We learnt how to use Figma effectively and also more about what the Circular Economy actually means. We also learnt how to write a business pitch. We also learnt about general teamwork, managing to delegate different roles and get things done quickly.
