Inspiration
The inspiration for 'Circle Of Care' came from seeing the adults who are simultaneously raising children and caring for aging parents. We noticed that for families dealing with early-stage dementia or memory loss, the biggest burden is not just the medical care; it’s the anxiety of the unknown. Existing tools are often too complex for seniors to use independently. We wanted to build something that felt less like a clinical monitor and more like a digital bridge—restoring independence to seniors while providing "peace of mind" to their families.
What it does
'Circle Of Care' is a collaborative memory-assistance platform that connects a senior user to their "Care Circle" (family, neighbors, and providers).
- For the Senior: It provides a simplified, high-contrast dashboard that shows only what is relevant right now (e.g., "Time for your morning tea and heart medication").
- For the Circle: It offers a real-time activity feed. When a senior checks off a task, the family receives a notification.
- The Emotional Core: Beyond just tasks, it includes a feature where family members can post photos or voice notes that appear on the senior’s home screen, reducing the isolation often associated with aging.
How we built it
We leveraged Figma Make to move from a prompt to a concept within few minutes.
- Ideation: We used plain-language prompts in Figma Make to describe the specific needs of elderly users.
- Generation: Figma Make instantly generated the layout for our primary dashboard and care feed, allowing us to visualize the interaction between the Senior and Caregiver views.
- Prototyping: We refined these AI-generated layouts into different connected screens, focusing on an accessible navigation flow.
Challenges we ran into
The primary challenge was information hierarchy. We had to balance the technical need for data (medication logs, schedules) with the cognitive limitations of our primary user. We wanted to ensure the senior’s screen was clutter-free, moving all complex management tools to the "Caregiver" side of the app. Additionally, we wanted to make a digital app feel "human" rather than a normal tracking tool.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Unlike simple reminder apps, Circle Of Care turns a normal daily activity (taking medicine) into a social win. Seeing a task transition from the Senior's "To-Do" to a "Celebration" in the family feed feels rewarding.
- We are also proud of how quickly we were able to iterate using Figma Make—what would normally take days of wireframing was accomplished in minutes.
What we learned
We discovered the power of AI-assisted design. Figma Make served as a creative catalyst, enabling us to rapidly prototype, demonstrating that AI is a strategic design partner rather than a mere productivity tool.
What's next for Circle Of Care
Our vision for 'Circle Of Care' extends beyond the screen:
- IoT Integration: Syncing wearable fall-detection devices.
- AI Memory Prompts: Using LLMs to look at family photos and generate questions to engage the senior’s memory.
- Predictive Analytics: Identifying changes in the senior's routine (e.g., taking longer to complete morning tasks) to alert families to potential health changes before they become emergencies.
