Where are we based?

Inspiration

The fragmented, daunting, and inconvenient of access nature for businesses, community groups, and services in particular for the reach out of refugees and asylum seekers across large areas means difficulties and barriers. Not just for refugees and asylum seekers, but for businesses and other groups to collaborate, and expand upon their reach out and potential!

What it does

This is a social networking platform for businesses, communities, asylum seekers, and refugees. It serves as a convenient, access point and information centre connecting existing and future programs, services, and employment in one easy access and reach. As means in improving our awareness, engagement, and their co-operation together to create a support of network and development for one another.

How we built it

• Pilot platform: As part of awareness, we are running and conducting our temporary platform as part of initial engagement for the community to have a trial process. With basic feature listing, information directory to the most up to date info and data about refugees and asylum seekers phenomenon and needs, as well as screening process of messages and information through our dedicated team of volunteers.
• Real platform: TBA, we are in the development phase for the real platform which will include your typical social media style features. It will also expand upon activism, humanitarian and other volunteer related ideas in the future

Challenges we ran into

• Resources: Limited finance, time constraints
• Expertees: We are only very limited to a pro-bono mentorship effort of all our volunteers, including the staff and manager that runs MECA (Mt Druitt Ethnic Community Agency)
• Existing system: Existing fragmented nature and a more established refugee and asylum seekers integrated program can be quite inefficient, and there needs to have a great change in the way our system deals with the 21st century needs. More collaborative approach across all sectors of the community!
• Lack of organised data: Part of our effort is to organise comprehensive data of refugee and asylum seekers integration into a much more convenient directory for all to see. We are trailblazing the path for an independent future refugee integration and outreach for startups.

Accomplishments that we're proud of so far...

• We are a tech based support with community based team, created by the community for the community, incubated by MECA (Mt Druitt Ethnic Community Agency), they are our mentors and help our idea come true.
• We are trailblazing a new concept that connects the Business, Community, and the Tech industry together to create a dramatic change of social and opportunity networking with a social and humanitarian purpose.

What we learned

• New Focus direction, especially related to business plan, and how we can grow our marketing and outreach through properly guided developmental phase.
• Experimenting with variety tech features for the development of the platforms.
• More to come...
