Inspiration

Since there are dating websites, why not have a friend-making website? This project is based on the fact that socially awkward people like us have a hard time finding friends, as it is hard to break the ice and get to know people who share the same interests as ourselves. With the platform Circle, we do the search for you, helping you find lifelong friendships!

What it does

Our project lets users input their interests and hobbies, and an alrogithm will matches them with someone with the most amount of common interests and enable them to chat with each other. All the past chat histories are saved, so it is possible to keep in touch with people you resonate with and form a stronger friendship.

How we built it

For the website, we used HTML and formatted it with CSS. The functions of the website are run through Javascript.

I worked on a bit of the html, java script and css on the frontend part. I have no idea what I am doing but the code works somehow. 10/10 experience. 1/10 sleep.

I worked on the authentication features with SQLite but due to limited time, authentication is not implemented. I also helped with debugging past chat feature, created some front-end templates and drew the product flow diagram.

I worked more on the design layout part. It was my first time using html and I learned a lot from this project.

I worked on the back-end, implementing functions such as interest selection, finding match with other users, sending messages in chatrooms, and created the video demo.

I worked with some of the more experimental parts of the project such as a personality quiz which didn't make it into the final prototype
