Inspiration
The inspiration behind Circadian Clock came after I resigned from my 9–5 workspace to focus on my own creative and tech ventures. Having done that, I had to carve out space to ensure I wasn’t creating a structure that led to burnout.
Having a lot of time on your hands can lead to neglecting wellness if it’s not properly structured, so I wrote Circadian Clock to serve as a memory to myself—to ensure that I prioritized what truly matters, which is my wellness.
Initially, it was a personal reminder, but then I thought, why not share it with a wider audience? It also aligns with the platform I’m building called YouLookHappier, which focuses on poems about health, love, peace of mind, family, and more.
What it does
Circadian Clock is a wellness piece aimed at inspiring others to prioritize their wellness, regardless of how they feel. It serves as a reminder for those who may need reminding, and it acts as a guide that people can learn from in terms of what they can incorporate into their daily wellness practices.
How we built it
The process for Circadian Clock started as a spoken-word poetry piece. I wanted it to be effective, so I decided to turn it into a smooth, conversational rap.
The vocals were created with Suno AI based on my creative direction, and the visuals/footage were sourced from Freepik (paid subscription), Envato (paid subscription), and Pexels (free copyright-free footage).
Challenges we ran into
The main challenge was the curation of the visuals—figuring out the direction of the piece and how exactly I wanted it to be. Several ideas came to mind until I finally settled on a monochrome visual style.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am super proud of the comments received from this piece—far more than I anticipated. I enjoyed the creation process, but I never expected the impact it would have. Most artists focus on the art itself, and that’s truly what I did.
The comments have been meaningful and very surprising, and I’m extremely grateful.
What we learned
I learned not to hold back—still learning that art. Most of the pieces I initially wanted to hold back are the ones that seem to do the best. So I’m learning to get out of my own way and continue creating with meaning.
What's next for Circadian Clock
Circadian Clock made me realize how much I enjoy breaking down medical-related terminology. I felt very comfortable and in my element writing this piece, and it has inspired me to create similar pieces—not only to inspire but to include medical facts.
I like when pieces are grounded in truth, so the aim is to inspire with facts and make it fun.
