Inspiration
We have a huge interest in cybersecurity and wanted to expand our knowledge on a topic we just recently learned about.
What it does
We created a website that allows users to learn about cryptography and encryption/decryption. It teaches the benefits behind it and shows off different encryption methods along with practical examples allowing the user to experiment by testing out the different methods that we coded.
How we built it
We created a GitHub repository to all work together and through VsCode we used, html to make the website, javascript to code the functions of the website and css to format the website.
Challenges we ran into
2 of us had never used html, javascript or css so we had a big learning curve to start off. We knew what we wanted to do but many times did not know how to execute it properly. We also had some issues coding the cipher functions but were able to work through it.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
This was our first Hackathon so just completing a project in the time limit and having something to show off is a big accomplishment itself. Along with that we are proud of the way way we adapted to the situation and learned a lot while also making this project.
What we learned
We learned and now have a basic understanding of javascript, html and css and how to configure a website. We also improved our knowledge on the topic of Cryptography. We also improved our teamwork skills and time management being able to get everything done on time.
What's next?
We believe this was a great step to begin with, and we plan to continue to work together on projects and hopefully participate in more hackathons and other computing events in the future.
