Inspiration

After watching a film, many people just scroll through social media or move on quickly. We wanted to create a way for moviegoers to stay in the cinematic mood—to discuss, explore hidden details, and even plan their next theater visit. CineCircle was born from that vision.

What it does

CineCircle is a post-movie engagement platform that helps users: Discover movie Easter eggs and bonus content Discuss themes and character arcs through guided prompts Encourage ongoing group interaction, nudging users to watch more films together rather than just playing games after. It creates an atmosphere where watching a movie is not the end—but the beginning of conversation.

How we built it

Frontend: React with Bolt-generated UI components Backend: Supabase for authentication, user data management, and real-time discussion threads Movie metadata: Gathered via external APIs and manually curated (especially for hidden Easter eggs) Prompt engine: Custom GPT prompts for summarization, tone detection, and guiding discussions Voice synthesis: ElevenLabs for generating natural-sounding audio summaries and emotional recaps Hosting: Deployed on Netlify with GitHub integration for continuous deployment

Challenges we ran into

No reliable public source for movie Easter eggs, so a lot had to be manually curated. The discussion game mechanics are still evolving—we haven’t found the perfect flow yet. Token limitations when summarizing long conversations or trying to judge group mood using LLMs.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

In small tests with friends, CineCircle successfully encouraged post-movie discussion, shifting the group dynamic from "let's go play video games" to "let's watch another movie." The vibe was right, and that means a lot to us.

What we learned

Vibe-driven coding (building based on group energy) only works if there's a strong skeleton first—clear architecture and prompt planning are essential Building while improvising with LLMs leads to chaos unless you're grounded in structure Social interaction is delicate—designing for emotion is just as hard as designing for function

What's next for CineCircle

Finalize the wb, gameplay model and cinematic engagement flows Seek partnerships with independent cinemas for pilot trials 🎉 Hopefully... see CineCircle listed on a theater’s website or app soon!
