Cicada took inspiration from the pressing challenges faced by auditors and the broader web3 security community. The founders recognized the following key factors:

  1. Auditor Underutilization: Skilled auditors often struggle to find consistent work and grow their expertise. Cicada aims to empower auditors by providing a platform that offers engaging opportunities and fair compensation.

  2. Lack of 24/7 Auditing Battles: Existing platforms don’t provide continuous auditing challenges. Cicada fills this gap by facilitating ongoing battles, allowing auditors to showcase their skills and earn rewards.

  3. Monetization Disconnect: The booming web3 security audit market lacks sufficient earning opportunities for community members. Cicada seeks to bridge this gap and create a sustainable ecosystem.

  4. Auditor Discovery Hassles: Project owners face challenges when searching for auditors due to high fees, limited options, and inflexible platforms. Cicada aims to simplify this process.

What it does

Cicada is a gamified web3 security auditing platform. And that connects auditors, project teams, and the broader web3 security community. Here’s what it does:

  • Auditing Battles: Auditors participate in continuous challenges[CTFs], improving their skills and earning rewards.

  • Defendathon: A unique feature that is an on-chain competitive auditing platform.

  • HackMission: Engages auditors in real-world scenarios [solves puzzles, CTFs].

  • AuditBee: Auditors work in a gamified manner to find bugs, where community funds them.

  • Friday Event: Weekly events - Auditing competition between 3 top auditors.

  • AuditX: A marketplace connecting auditors with projects.

How we built it

Cicada’s development involved a combination of web3, smart contracts. The team collaborated closely, leveraging their expertise in security, blockchain, and community building.

Challenges we ran into

Technical Complexity: Integrating various features while ensuring security and scalability. Community Adoption: Convincing auditors and project owners to embrace a new platform. Balancing Incentives: Designing reward structures that motivate auditors without compromising security.
