Inspiration
One of the main problems that I can see people complain about on the Internet (and it's also a problem I personally face) is the issue of having a large number of tabs open in your browser. We all know how annoying it can get. With this chrome extension, I sought to solve this problem and am quite happy with the results.
What it does
A Chrome extension that allows users to quickly and conveniently navigate between tabs. This extension addresses a common issue that many users encounter - accidentally opening up a large number of tabs and then losing track of the ones you need.
How we built it
This Chrome extension was built using HTML, CSS and vanilla JavaScript. And it also uses a Chrome extension developer starter code from this repo.
Challenges we ran into
As this was my first time working on a project like this, I had to learn how to create Chrome extensions which was quite a challenging task. In addition to that, I wanted to focus on optimising the extension's speed so that the user experience is as smooth as possible, which required a lot of research on how JavaScript works on a deeper level, and doing this research and implementing the project within a 36-hour deadline was another challenge I faced.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I'm proud of myself for stepping outside of my comfort zone and confronting some difficult problems that surfaced during the development process. In addition to that, one of the primary goals I aimed to achieve was the smoothness of the project, and I am quite pleased with the results.
What's next for Chrome Tab Switcher
I intend to continue developing and improving this project, with the goal of publishing it on the Chrome Web Store, where it can hopefully benefit a great number of people.
