Inspiration

I want to create a music-based game that incorporates visual feedback to engage players. The goal is to teach basic music tone recognition through interactive gameplay, blending visual and auditory elements. By integrating gamification, the game aims to make music training both fun and educational.

What it does

The game introduces progressive levels to expand the original version, dividing the open exploration and experimental playground into mini-sections. Each section features a unique tone-based puzzle, challenging players to master music tone recognition. Completing a puzzle unlocks the next stage, with the ability to revisit and replay any previously unlocked stages.

Changes to original version

  • New Updated Tutorial Room: A completely revamped initial learning experience.

    • AI voice assistance Bots.
    • Pool with floating sound pad that can play 3 tone chords
    • clear objectives for players. unlocking sequence instead of open world mechanics.
    • Added 9 Quests ,Unlockable Discovery via mini tone puzzle
    • Saved Player Progress & Spawn Points: Persistent data
    • Updated Color Visuals
    • UI overlays to create more exciting visual feedback for scoring system. (demo)
    • Sound Tone Reworks

Challenges I ran into

Crafting an effective UI layout through code presents a fresh challenge, compounded by frustrating editor issues like a missing transform gizmo that halted level editing (resolved with updates) and objects vanishing in mobile and web builds despite appearing in the editor preview (fixed with a hierarchy workaround with Trigger Gizmo).

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Delighted with the procedural asset variation and increased interactivity.

What I learned

Custom UI layout, and Quest features, and Persistent storage variables.

What's next for Chroma Tone Leap

Building on the established game mechanics, I plan to add music puzzles and levels focused on chord and tone training through gamification, expanding into rhythm-based games to enhance music learning.
