Inspiration
I didn't have much experience with javascript but I thought it would be a cool idea to create a bot for Discord that filters out curse words with the help of my friends who were somewhat experienced with javascript.
What it does
The bot allows the bot commander to delete messages by using a command "~purge [# of msgs]". The bot also deletes messages that contain certain curse words and will remind the user by direct messaging them that they are not allowed to use curse words.
How I built it
We built this program by referencing various youtube tutorials on how to create discord bots and code for it since none of us tried to build a discord bot before. We used javascript since some of my friends were somewhat experienced with javascript.
Challenges I ran into
Learning javascript. Making the bot do what I want it to do.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
The bot responds sometimes.
What I learned
I did not know we could customize our own bots for Discord so it was interesting learning how to make the custom bot I wanted.
What's next for Christian Discord Bot
More functions for the bot such as providing jokes or telling what the weather is.
