Inspiration - My inspiration for this app came the way it does for many developers and entrepreneurs — I personally struggled in the very area this app now serves.
Years ago, I had deep, faith-related questions I wanted to bring to a Christian counselor, but I couldn’t find anyone. I tried searching for a platform or resource that offered truly devout Christian guidance, and found nothing. Eventually, I settled for counseling covered by my insurance through work — but most of those counselors either weren’t Christian, or they identified as Christian but weren’t actually walking the walk.
When I brought up spiritual issues, I was often met with confusion or detachment. One moment really stuck with me: I brought up my struggle with pornography to a counselor, and he told me that watching it once a day wasn’t a problem. That was a breaking point for me. I knew then that I needed someone who didn’t just tolerate my faith, but actually shared it. Someone who could counsel me through the lens of Scripture, not culture.
But I still didn’t know how to find someone like that online.
That longing stayed with me for years. I always thought, “One day, I want to create something that makes this easier for people like me.” I just didn’t know how — until I finally had the chance to learn how to build apps.
So I took a leap of faith... and built this. A platform for believers to find real, Christ-centered coaching — something I desperately wished existed when I needed it most.
What it does - ChristCoach is an app built to connect Christians with devout Christian coaches or counselors to help them in both their walk of life and their walk with Christ.
The process is simple: users fill out a detailed questionnaire about their struggles, goals, and preferences. Based on those answers, they’re matched with two potential coaches who best fit their needs. If they don’t like either, they can switch anytime. Once they select a coach, they can begin one-on-one coaching through text, phone, or video calls — all powered by a simple credit-based system.
Inside the app, users get access to a powerful personal dashboard, where they can:
Message their coach 24/7 via in-app chat See a Scripture of the Day Revisit Bible verses shared by their coach during past sessions Post or view prayer requests on a live Prayer Wall, where anyone can click "Prayed For" — showing real-time encouragement and support ChristCoach isn’t just another coaching app. It’s what I wish I had years ago — a space where faith is central, not optional. A place where you can be heard, helped, and discipled by someone who truly walks with God.
How we built it - 100% with bolt prompts. It is clear that if I want to get the app fully functioning I will have to seek a developer to really iron things out.
Challenges we ran into - Since the app was built entirely in Bolt, most of the issues I ran into were typical Bolt-related problems. One of the biggest setbacks was a major white screen error that lasted over 48 hours. I wasn’t able to resolve it on my own, and eventually had to seek professional help to fix it. Beyond that, there have been a lot of smaller issues—logic that doesn’t work properly, Stripe webhooks that don’t function even after multiple troubleshooting attempts, and Bolt hasn’t been able to provide a working solution. I’ve also tried troubleshooting myself, but nothing I’ve done has worked so far.
Even simple things, like asking Bolt to place a button in a specific spot, often don’t get done correctly, even when I give very clear instructions. As a result, a lot of tokens have been spent just trying to get basic things working. I understand that this comes with the territory of using newer AI-driven tools, but it’s definitely been a challenge.
Accomplishments that we're proud of - Honestly, I don’t have any major accomplishments at the moment, since the app is still in its early stages and barely finished. I’m just glad I’ve made it this far. Getting to this point has taken a lot, and even though it’s not complete, it already feels like progress I can be grateful for.
What we learned - I’ve learned a little bit of a lot. Coming into this with no coding experience, I’ve gained a basic understanding of how to develop and launch an app. As a millennial who’s used hundreds of apps throughout my life, it’s been eye-opening to realize how little I actually knew about how they work behind the scenes.
Through this process, I’ve picked up the fundamentals of error handling, how to navigate and work with my Supabase database, and how to manage parts of the backend in Stripe. It’s not expert-level knowledge, but it’s enough for me to feel like I know what I’m doing in the areas I’ve touched. I’m grateful for everything I’ve learned so far and excited to keep learning as ChristCoach continues to grow.
What's next for Christ Coach - The next step for ChristCoach is to get the app fully functional and ready for live deployment so it can begin serving Christians around the world. The entire platform has been built using Bolt, which has been helpful for quickly turning the idea into a working app. However, Bolt currently has limitations and isn’t able to fully support everything I want to do with the software.
Because of that, I plan to hire a developer who can help smooth out the remaining issues, improve functionality, and get the app to a stable place. Once those pieces are in place, ChristCoach can be marketed, launched, and begin making a real impact in people’s lives. The goal isn’t just to launch it, but to build something excellent and something that’s sustainable and truly helpful for the Christian community.
