Inspiration
As students ourselves, we've experienced firsthand the hesitation to raise our hands in class. Upon conversations with other peers, we realized this was a much more common struggle. Many students like us were missing out on so many educational opportunities simply because we were too shy to ask questions. This drove us to research and develop a solution that would help push students like ourselves towards participating more confidently in our education.
What it does
Our tool provides:
- An easy access forum for students to post questions regarding lesson content or exploring the broader context of a subject
- An upvote feature for students to emphasize which questions require teacher attention
- Anonymity options to allow for reduced fear of judgement
- AI-powered filter that efficiently moderates student input
How we built it
We built Chorus using Firebase for real-time database functionality, as well as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for the frontend interface. Development assisted by AI tools.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re extremely proud of managing to complete this project, as it is our first hackathon!
What's next for Chorus
Our next step is to perform trial tests and get feedback from teachers and students. We intend on using a randomized sample from a variety of schools to make generalizations applicable to a larger range of students.
