Inspiration
When you start taking care of more than just one room, you see how the responsibilities pile up. There are things around the house that you never thought of cleaning and endless household supplies that need to be kept in stock. With all of these, trying to remember to do the tasks with a busy life is difficult. We wanted to make an app that could remember any household chore/task you wanted it to, and it wouldn't take up space in your regular calendar.
What it does
ChoreUs takes user input and stores it in calendar and To Do list format. The user simply names the task, chooses whether it is a purchase or a chore, and selects the time interval! ChoreUs will remind the user in the specified time frame. We added some additional capabilities, such as the option to connect with your community, a map of where to replenish your household supplies, and a running To Do list.
How we built it
We used Figma to create the concept and simulate the front end development of the app.
Challenges we ran into
Our initial challenge was the learning curve that came with using Figma for the first time. After that, we had ensure that we were staying collaborative with design choices.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We started brainstorming Friday but didn't start physically working on the project until Saturday. We felt that this pout us on the same page, and that we were able to move through our ideas more efficiently. We're proud that we were able to put together a UI design and that it's skeleton can be further improved for functionality.
What we learned
Figma was a new concept to us so we learned how to navigate the site. We also were having some difficulties with adding too much, so quality control is something we tried to focus on. Both of these could use some improvements, but we are happy with the end result.
What's next for ChoreUs
Ideally, the next steps would be to move the project onto an interface like XCode. We would be able to use Swift to development the app and get a functional product.
