La Gran Idea (The Big Idea) 😌😌😌
Uhhh so last week my mom said that I didn't do enough around the house, but I feel like I do a ton of chores! Surely there are other people that deal with this major problem, so I decided to make an app that gamifies and tracks chores. You can compete with your family to see who can complete the most chores and the most difficult chores.
Features 😩
- A front-end and a back-end (particularly impressive because I have never made a back-end before) ✅
- Up to FOUR different households (If you have more that is a little sus) ✅
- Daily, weekly, and monthly fully-customizable tasks. A timer will start with the amount of time counting down for each different task when it is completed. ✅
- An automatically updated leaderboard for ultimate bragging rights ✅
- A fully-customizable member list ✅

How I built it 🤔
So I used Next.js for the front-end and Flask API for the back-end. I have used react before, but never Next so that was a little challenging. Also, I've never made a back-end before, and this one was kinda complicated so big ups me i guess.
Challenges I ran into 💀
Soooooooo I had a full four person team, and I was expecting that they were gonna do some work on it, so I only focused on the front-end for the first couple days. And then nobody kinda responded to my texts or worked on the project so I thought I was screwed. But then I lowkey locked in and made the back-end and got it all working with a good amount of time to spare.
What's next for Chore Competitors 🔥
Since this was my first time doing a bunch of stuff, it's lowkey inefficient so if I had more time I would go and back the loading times better 🙈 Also, I wasn't too happy with the UI, so if I had more time I would have definitely made the UI looks better.
