Inspiration

The inspiration was the coming together of multiple interdisciplines coming together to commit to a hackathon with that I wanted to bridge emerging technologies with something fun that allows others understand the field of computer science. with the help of my team we developed Chompers

What it does

Chompers is an AI-powered chatbot designed to simplify complex jargon, clarify challenging concepts with engaging analogies, and seamlessly connect interdisciplinary team members with relevant experts.

How we built it

We built Chompers using Python with the Ollama library, leveraging the Llama3.2 language model to generate clear, accessible explanations. We structured interactive prompts to help guide model responses, ensuring helpful and human-friendly output.

Challenges we ran into

Initially, responses lacked simplicity, requiring iterative refinement of prompts to achieve clarity. Managing context within the conversation posed another challenge, solved by structuring clear system instructions.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of creating a user-friendly chatbot that effectively simplifies complex interdisciplinary jargon. Successfully integrating Ollama to provide clear, relatable explanations was a highlight.

What we learned

We learned how critical precise prompt engineering is for achieving helpful AI responses. Additionally, integrating conversational AI taught us practical skills in natural language processing.

What's next for Chompers

Next, we plan to refine Chompers by adding a robust knowledge base, user feedback mechanisms, and integrating it into popular collaboration tools like Slack or Microsoft Teams to enhance usability.
