Ideas belong on stream.

A Twitch stream is a conversation. Viewers share ideas, ask questions, and help shape what happens next. We built Cholk to give those ideas a place on screen.

Cholk is a shared canvas for streamers and their communities. A streamer starts with an idea; viewers can make their own version or suggest something directly through Twitch chat.

From chat to canvas

Viewers send an idea with a short chat command. It appears in the streamer's submission queue, where it can be approved or dismissed. The streamer decides what goes on screen.

Once approved, the idea appears in an OBS display. We tested the full flow with a real Twitch chat message and showed the result on a live broadcast.

How we built it

We used OpenAI Codex to build the canvas, submission queue, Twitch connection, and OBS display. The project uses Python, JavaScript, SQLite, and Twitch EventSub.

The main challenge was connecting a chat message to the right canvas while keeping the streamer in control. We learned how to bring Twitch events, local sessions, and OBS Browser Sources together into one flow.

What’s next

We want to add freehand drawing and use AI to turn rough sketches into editable diagrams. We also want to explore how AI agents could suggest ideas for the streamer and community to review.
