Inspiration

Our inspirations for this project were mostly choose your own adventure games in which there would be multiple paths and choices to make, each leading you to different endings. The game that was most inspirational though is a series of games called the Henry Stickmin series, in which there are hundreds of endings each with their own funny twists and turns.

What it does

Our scratch project gives the user the ability to make decisions based on pre determined options. These options each lead to their own path with some having bad endings, while others continue onto good endings. In total there are 3 endings each unique in their own way, and the overall purpose for this game is just to have fun.

How we built it

We built this game using Scratch, in which we imported many images and backgrounds to eventually make the game we are submitting it. It uses the building blocks given to you to choose your decisions, make the character take action, and also lead to the bad and good endings.

Challenges we ran into

Some of the challenges we ran into were transitioning between scene's. As sometimes a character would stay on the screen despite needing to disappear for a small amount of time. Another problem is organization as the blocks end up being spread out and chunky, along with there being 55 different sprites each with their own code, it becomes difficult to easily navigate.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud that we were able to get the game functioning despite the numerous problems we ran into during the making of the project. Also we're proud that we were able to successfully combine the projects as originally it was 3 separate paths each in their own project as we each were working on our own, but when combining there were overlapping variables, and names, and sprites, so it took a while to sort out but we eventually managed it did got it working.

What we learned

We learned how to effectively communicate between teammates and share issue's that we are experiencing and also sharing bugs in the code; if we didn't learn this eventually then our project would have been ridden with bugs and issue's that would have been annoying to deal with.

What's next for Choice Quest: Space Edition

We were thinking when we named that project that there could be a sequel to the game if we wanted to make one. As we named it space edition that leaves it open to different editions that can be made, with each new story adding more characters and endings.
