Inspiration
As the CTO of Umpa Lumpa Ultd, it was extremely important for us to prioritise user experience, as the only people using this would be 11-year old Pushpa and the Oompa Loompas, which made it necessary to streamline the process of running a business, which can seem very intimidating (for an 11-year-old), or scary for the employees under her.
What it does
Divided into four parts, the web app is centred around the Supply Chain, a visual representation of all incoming material, complete with details of its distributors. It also includes the inventory and employees page, which allow the Oompa Loompas/11year old/management to view information about the reserved stock of resources/material, and employee attendance and salaries. Finally, it also includes a payments page, which lets you view all pending payments to distributors, marketplaces etc and can redirect you to the payment gateway.
How we built it
We used HTML, CSS, JS (web stack, no frontend framework); and Node & Express as the app’s backend architecture. We began by prototyping designs in Figma, and subsequently coded the app.
Challenges we ran into
Designing and choosing appropriate colour palettes that would work well with the theme of the application and be user friendly for its target demographic.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
App Design, and using JSON instead of a proper database, which is a fairly interesting production choice, to say the least.
What we learned
To not use JSON instead of a proper database, which is a terrible production choice, to say the least.
What's next for Choccy
To hook up an actual database instead of JSON to Choccy, and work on adding new features
