Inspiration

The idea for ChimChat came from observing how people switch between multiple apps to stay connected, watch content, and share their lives. We wanted to create a single platform that brings together the best features of popular apps like YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, WhatsApp, and X (formerly Twitter) into one seamless experience.

What We Learned

Building ChimChat taught us a lot about scalable architecture, real-time messaging protocols, media streaming technologies, and crafting a responsive, user-friendly UI. We also deepened our understanding of backend development and user authentication.

How We Built It

ChimChat was built using a modern tech stack:

• Frontend: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frameworks for interactivity and responsiveness.
• Backend: Node.js, Express, and a NoSQL database for real-time data handling.
• Streaming & Media: Integrated custom APIs and media servers to handle video and audio streaming.
• AI Assistant: Powered by ChatGPT-3.5, Chimy AI assists users in real-time with content suggestions, replies, and more.

Challenges We Faced

Some of the main challenges included:

• Ensuring smooth performance on low-end devices like HP ProBook 11 G1 EE.
• Balancing a clean UI with a feature-rich experience.
• Managing data synchronization for messaging and streaming in real-time.
• Integrating multiple services in a unified user experience.

Despite these challenges, ChimChat grew into a powerful and versatile platform that aims to revolutionize how people connect and create.
