Inspiration

I wanted to build a game that felt different from the usual racing and action games. Something relaxing, where players could explore a town, ride at their own pace, and enjoy the little things along the way. That's how Chill Dash started.

What it does

Chill Dash is a cozy, top-down delivery game. Players ride through towns, complete deliveries, earn coins, upgrade bikes, and explore different locations. The game features changing weather, day and night cycles, traffic, and an in-game phone.

How I built it

I built Chill Dash primarily using React Native, with a custom game engine for movement, physics, traffic, and rendering. I used Supabase for cloud saves and Google sign-in. I handled everything from gameplay and UI to testing and publishing.

Challenges we ran into

Building a game with React Native came with its own challenges. Performance, smooth movement, rendering, and memory management required a lot of work. I also had to balance gameplay progression, fix bugs, and make the game run smoothly on different Android devices.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm proud to have taken Chill Dash from an idea to a playable game. I've built multiple towns, different bikes, a delivery system, dynamic weather, and an in-game smartphone. Seeing the game evolve through feedback from testers has been especially rewarding.

What we learned

Building Chill Dash taught me how much work goes into making even a simple game feel good. I learned a lot about game physics, performance optimization, UI design, and listening to player feedback. Most importantly, I learned how to take a project from an idea to a real product on my own.

What's next for Chill Dash

I'm working on improving performance, adding new locations, expanding delivery missions, and introducing more things to discover. I want to keep making Chill Dash a relaxing little world that players enjoy returning to.
