Chill Capy is a virtual pet that never punishes you: a capybara who lives in a hot spring, wears a yuzu on his head, and is thrilled you exist however long you've been away. The same rule runs the business — Chill Club's first perk is removing the app's own ads, so the free experience is an honest price list for the subscription.
At a glance
- Live on both stores — App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/chill-capy/id6796189778 · Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chinesepowered.chill · site: https://chill.chinesepowered.com/
- Free, never paywalled. Chill Club: $4.99/month, $29.99/year with a 7-day free trial, or $49.99 lifetime. Zen Gem packs: $1.99–$19.99 for 100–1,700 gems, consumable.
- RevenueCat powers offerings and localized prices, purchases, trial eligibility, the
clubentitlement behind every perk, restores and a customer-info listener — one code path on both stores. - RevenueCat Ads powers the ad ledger: AdMob rewarded videos (four opt-in placements) and paced post-game interstitials both report impression-level revenue beside the subscriptions.
- No account, no server, works offline. All-ages rating; ad content capped at G. No banners.
The subscription sells silence
Most ads are rewarded and opt-in: double a payout, a +60 coin top-up that only appears when you're short, one free daily gem, an energy nap. Each is capped per day; the nap also has a 45-minute cooldown. There is exactly one interstitial slot — after every third mini-game, at least three minutes apart, never during care, never on your first day.
Chill Club's first perk deletes that interstitial. The rest pay daily: 5 gems each day you open the app, 1.5× coins on games, quests and playdates, streak armor, reward-calendar protection, and two member-only fits. A subscription needs a daily reason to exist, and "no interruptions" is only worth paying for if the free ad load was defensible to begin with.
Coins from ads and gems from your wallet buy the same hats, so the ad watcher and the gem buyer are the same person at different prices. That is only measurable if both land in one place — so every rewarded and interstitial impression reports through RevenueCat's ad tracker, and the pacing knobs (every N games, minimum gap, day-one grace) can be tuned against the Club conversions they risk rather than against a feeling.
A pet who never punishes you
Classic tamagotchi pets guilt you into coming back; modern players uninstall guilt. Skip a day or a week and Capy never dies, never leaves, never lectures. Offline drift is capped at 18 hours, his mood droops a little, and the comeback recap reads "He's fine — he's always fine." Notifications are local and opt-in: one care nudge, one streak guard, one gentle winback. There is no push server because there is no server.
A hot spring that lives
The onsen follows your real clock — sunrise light at breakfast, stars and steam after dark. Yuzu bob, ripples spread, and as Capy levels up the neighborhood notices: a bird at level 3, a turtle at 6, a duck at 9, a frog at 13. Four seasonal events re-dress the scene from the device date. Every scene, critter, hat and the capybara himself are vector paths drawn in code; there is no bitmap art in the UI, and even the icon and the sound effects are generated by script.
Three tiny games
Yuzu Drop (a 45-second three-lane catcher; golden yuzu count triple), Bubble Pop (30 seconds of fizz, with zen streaks), Steam Says (the onsen stones hum a growing pentatonic pattern — hum it back). Each costs 10 energy and pays coins, XP and fun back into the care loop. Out of energy? Sleep, or take the rewarded nap.
Playdates by QR code
Your capy is a scannable code. Meet a friend, scan each other, and your capybaras soak together; friendship grows to five hearts and pays coins once a day per friend. The Capy Code is plain text too, so it works over any messenger — still no account, still no server.
Where it stands
Live on Google Play (build 6, which carries the RevenueCat ad tracker) and, since the end of September, on the App Store. Launch marketing was held until the iOS build cleared so both stores land together, and the figures in the Grand Prize field are reported straight from RevenueCat without dressing. Already in place for launch: a landing page with device-detecting store badges and auto-redirect, an in-app review prompt that only asks after a real streak, a flag-gated over-the-air path for launch-week hotfixes, share cards, and the #BuildInPublic arc on x.com/ChinesePowered.
For judges: seeing premium
Chill Club is one tap from Home, the Play tab, the Shop tab and Settings. The annual plan carries a 7-day free trial — choose Annual → Start 7 days free and every perk unlocks without a charge: interstitials gone, 5 gems each day you open the app, 1.5× coins, streak armor, Captain's Hat and Gold Chain in the wardrobe, calendar protection. Restore purchases is on the same screen. The demo video shows the purchase inside its first minute and the rewarded daily-gem placement in the Shop.
