Inspiration

The inspiration behind CHIKITSAK came from the real-world challenges patients face while trying to access timely and reliable healthcare. Many people struggle with long waiting times, lack of specialist availability, and geographical barriers, especially in remote or underserved areas. We wanted to create a solution that connects patients and doctors beyond local boundaries and makes healthcare accessible on a global platform. CHIKITSAK was inspired by the belief that quality medical consultation should be available to everyone, anytime and anywhere.

What it does

CHIKITSAK is a digital healthcare platform that connects patients with doctors on a global level. Patients can register, explore doctors based on their specialization, book appointments by selecting available time slots, and track the status of their consultations. Doctors can manage their schedules, view patient appointments, avoid slot conflicts, and update consultation statuses. The platform ensures organized appointment handling, reduces manual errors, and improves the overall healthcare experience for both patients and medical professionals.

How we built it

We built CHIKITSAK using a full-stack approach. The frontend was developed using modern web technologies to provide a clean and user-friendly interface. The backend was implemented using a server-side framework with FAST APIs to handle authentication, appointments, and role-based access for patients and doctors. A relational database was used to manage users, doctors, patients, and appointment records efficiently, ensuring data consistency and slot conflict prevention. Challenges we ran into

One of the major challenges was preventing double booking of appointment slots for the same doctor. Managing role-based data (patients vs doctors) and maintaining proper relationships between users, doctors, and appointments also required careful database design. Another challenge was keeping the system flexible while ensuring data integrity, especially when handling appointment updates and status changes in real time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of building a working healthcare platform that successfully connects patients and doctors through a structured appointment system. Implementing slot-conflict prevention, role-based access, and dynamic dashboards for users was a significant achievement. The system effectively reduces manual scheduling issues and demonstrates a scalable solution for global healthcare connectivity.

What we learned

Through this project, we learned the importance of proper database design, normalization, and constraints in real-world applications. We gained hands-on experience with full-stack development, API integration, and dynamic UI rendering. Most importantly, we learned how technology can be used to solve meaningful problems in healthcare and improve accessibility for users worldwide.

What's next for CHIKITSAK

In the future, we plan to expand CHIKITSAK by adding video consultations, online prescriptions, and secure medical record storage. We also aim to integrate AI-based doctor recommendations, multi-language support, and real-time notifications. Our long-term vision is to make CHIKITSAK a trusted global healthcare ecosystem that empowers both patients and doctors.
